It is completely free to join Genero, access briefs, and submit your pitches.
For some briefs, we charge a small creator platform fee for commissioned work which is 6.5% of the Creator Budget.
On each brief you will clearly see the Creator Payment amount, which is the total payment amount that will be released to you. This amount should cover all production costs associated with completing the project, unless otherwise specified in the brief (eg. travel, accommodation, talent).
When are payments released?
Once Genero has received payment from the client, the Creator Payment will become available on the platform for the client to release to the creator - either in its entirety when the brief is completed, or progressively at agreed milestones throughout production.
When a Creator Payment is available to collect, you'll be notified (via email and the brief) that your payment is ready to collect via your Payments Dashboard.
Collecting payments
Creators can collect payments on Genero using Payoneer, or by setting up direct payments. (Note: direct payments are progressively rolling out, and may not be available in some regions).
Payoneer
To sign up for Payoneer, follow the prompts via your Payments Dashboard on Genero. You'll also be prompted to sign up for Payoneer when you submit a treatment or are commissioned. Much like setting up a bank account, you'll need to carefully provide the correct proof of ID and other information to ensure your account is approved.
Note: To collect a payment, you must have an approved Payoneer account in the currency of the brief, regardless of your bank account currency.
Direct payment
Note: Some regions may not have access to Direct Payments as we progressively roll this feature out.
Genero offers a direct payment facility via our partner Airwallex in some regions. To set up direct payments follow the prompts via the Payment methods page in Settings.
Once you have an approved direct payment account, you can add bank accounts and transfer methods to receive your payments.
Fees
Fees will be applicable depending on the transfer method, the currency of the payment, and your region's local currency.
Payoneer fees can be seen in your Payoneer account. Direct payment fees are displayed in real time on Genero when you action your payment.
Genero pays Creators in the currency of each brief; if you are receiving into a different native currency then currency exchange fees will be applicable. Payoneer FX fees are listed on your Payoneer account. Direct payment FX fees will be displayed in real time when you process your payment.
Receiving payment in the same currency as the brief does not incur any FX fees, however a very small handling fee normally applies.
