When you add links to your Work Library, the Genero platform will automatically use a thumbnail image from the link you have provided, called an open graph image. Open graph images are displayed when a link is embedded or shared on social media platforms etc.
Currently you can not edit or change the thumbnail image on Genero, because it is hosted from the original source. If your thumbnail image needs updating or is not working, try the following:
- For video links from hosting providers like Vimeo or YouTube, you can easily change the thumbnail via your video settings. Make sure you have the correct settings to embed your video, as no thumbnail may be a sign of private or broken links.
- For website links, make sure you have set an open graph image using your web code or website builder. If an image hasn't been assigned, the thumbnail may pull the first image on your website such as a logo or icon.
- Social media links (including Instagram Reels or TikTok) may not be optimised for embedding. If the thumbnail link isn't working, try hosting the video on Vimeo or YouTube for the best viewing experience.
To test thumbnail images, you can use a tool like Meta’s Sharing Debugger to check your URL link and preview your thumbnail.
